Privacy Policy

Bedbugz is a service for parents and guardians. Accounts are for adults only (18 and over). Children never create accounts or use the service on their own; they listen while an adult reads the story.

What we collect

• Your account: your name, email address and a hashed password.
• Your stories: the first names (or nicknames), ages, races and classes you enter for the adventurers, your world name, the choices you make, and the episodes generated for you, kept in your cloud library.
• Your reading activity: which episodes you have bookmarked and where you last stopped in each book, so you can pick up where you left off.
• Purchases: which optional extras your account has unlocked. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never receive or store your card details.
• Technical data: session cookies needed to keep you signed in, and basic privacy-friendly usage analytics.

We recommend using a first name or nickname for children, not a full name. We do not ask for children's surnames, photos, locations, school details or contact information, and we never contact children.

How we use it

• To run your account and keep your stories private to you.
• To write your episodes. The adventurers' names and ages, your world details and a short history of your story are sent to an AI model provider through Vercel AI Gateway so it can write the next episode. We do not send your email address or password.
• To protect the service from abuse and fix problems.

We do not sell personal information, show advertising, or use children's information to build advertising profiles.

Who processes your data

• Vercel (hosting, analytics and AI Gateway).
• Neon (database hosting).
• Stripe (payment processing for optional purchases).
• An AI model provider reached through AI Gateway (story text only).
• Resend (transactional email, such as account emails), when enabled.

Your choices and rights

From your account page you can export your personal data and permanently delete your account along with every chronicle, adventurer, episode, bookmark and reading record.

The export contains your account details, your library entries (titles and status), your bookmarks, your reading progress and your purchases. It does not include the generated story text: Bedbugz is a licensed reading service, so stories are read in the app rather than downloaded as files. Deletion removes the data from our database; encrypted backups are overwritten on the provider's normal schedule. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights to access, correct or delete your data, and you can exercise them by emailing us.

Retention

We keep your data until you delete it or your account. Sessions expire automatically.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit, passwords are hashed, and every story is checked against your signed-in account on the server, so other accounts cannot open it.
